Across the early learning sector, sustainability is now recognised as a core learning outcome. Child education frameworks, such as the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), are increasingly embedding sustainability guidelines. Building resilience and agency—so children can understand environmental issues and learn how to address them—is a growing priority across Australia.
As our children grow, we want them to have the confidence and capability to drive positive change and help shape a more sustainable world.
Beyond supporting future leaders, there are also upcoming regulations that may impact your service and resources available to guide your way.
Upcoming EPA regulations that impact you?
Some businesses will need to separate food waste from general waste commencing from 1 July 2026. The date the regulations apply to your centre will depend on the amount of general waste you get collected each week. Check your start date using this calculator (HERE). We know this means changes for your kitchen team: new processes, some training, and adjusting your setup.
The good news? Our BBP team is here to support you through it. From helpful links, calculators and resources (below) to one-on-one support from the BBP team.
